Happy Holidays




Happy Holidays!

Yeah, it may not be past Thanksgiving yet, but that does not mean that we can't start celebrating.

This year, we will be having a Sideburns Happy Holidays show, where he spotlights those oldies but goodies holidays tunes.

Studio?!?

Yeah, you heard me right. Radio Magruder will be getting a studio. All of the equipment is courtesy of Northwood High School, and the space is provided by Mrs. Harper. Thank you all for your support.

What does this mean?

Well, for starters, you will be hearing more shows on Radio Magruder. Also, we can start our radio dramas (in ALL theatre classes).

Want to be part of something new, innovative, and most of all fun? Well, this is your chance. Join Radio Magruder, the only club at Magruder where the focus is making YOU a star, and getting YOU your own show, ONLINE!

Currently, we are in of a sports reporter (where you and a friend can get into sports games for FREE), sports photographer (an excuse to get on the sidelines and take some cool pictures), and people who would like to take part in our first ever Radio Drama show.

New Format Means New Shows


Well, because of our changing format, we will be having a change in the shows we play. Yes, we will still be playing our music shows, but we have something different too, shows only available online. Among those shows are going to be a Student Jeopardy, Sports Shows, Magruder News, and our Radio Drama Shows.

We Still Want You

We are STILL LOOKING FOR DJs. Would you like to have your own show? Would you like to be heard playing the music that you dig? Well, here's your chance. Just stop by room C-125 and pick up the Radio Audition form, either by taking it from the folder or asking Mr. Austin for assistance.

Along with DJs, we are still looking for SPORTS REPORTERS. Once again, if you would like to have your own show where you just talk about those sports (both Magruder and National), either talk to Mr. Austin or Sideburns about it. They will be glad to assist you.

Radio Drama: A new thing we have been discussing. Our plan is to do those radio shows, yes, like the original "Gunsmoke" or "I Love Lucy." If you would like to be part of this, once again, stop by room C-125.

We're working on getting a simpler URL to use as a redirect... but that's the new page until then.

Our Next Meeting

Radio Magruder is having meetings again. Our next meeting will be in room C-125 (Mr. Austin's Room). on Wednesday, March 2nd. We will be holding all of our meetings in there, now. Come and join us, as Radio Magruder "restarts." We want your ideas.

Don't Forget About Us

We are still working on getting a studio...

There is no estimated time frame for that.

We are also working on a temporary CHANNEL 19 BROADCAST. Our plan is to start our Automated shuffle that will play the tunes that you want. All you have to do is just ask your teacher during the day to turn on the MVP channel to hear those oh so great tunes.

We are expected to start that form of broadcast within the next few weeks. We will continue with that format until we have our studio.

You the DJ


We want you to be the DJ for Radio Magruder. Being a DJ, you will have YOUR OWN 45 min show, where you can play the music that YOU like and want to be heard. If you would rather not play music and just have a TALK SHOW, then that's fine, too. All you have to do is go to the next Radio Magruder Meeting, on February 2nd, after school, and we will tell you everything that you need to know.

Where are we?

Due to the number of projects we have, you will not hear us for a while. Currently, we are working on 1) Live broadcasting from our NEW RECORDING STUDIO, 2) playing our music online, 3) cafeteria speaker system.

We are hoping to have a decision about the studio in the next few weeks, so just be patient, and hold on.

Come and join us...

We will be meeting on Wednesday, February 2nd after school in room B-232. Be sure to join us. Some of the hot topics for the next meeting will be a debate over going live, brainstorming ideas for true trivia facts, and also on-air games and prizes that we can do. Along with this, we will be recording shout-outs of our CALL LETTERS! If you would like your voice heard for the history of Radio Magruder by just saying "Radio Magruder", come to the next meeting.

Also, if you would like to fill either one of our sports positions, either as a sports reporter or the sports photographer, just come to the meeting. If you would like to be a DJ also, come to the meeting and we will give you the necessary forms.

Once again, the meeting is in room B-232 unless otherwise stated and activity bus tickets will be provided.

Can you listen to us in class?

The answer is yes, as long as it's ok with your teacher. During every 4th, 5th, and 6th period on the show date, we will be broadcasting live, through channel 19 (MVP channel). Make sure to tell your teacher about it. As soon as we go live, just tell your teacher about us and ask them if them if it's alright to tune us in. No show during the day is the same, and every DJ personality is a different one, so tune in, and relax.

LIVE Broadcasts

Hello Everyone. I want to introduce myself before I get down to business. My online name is NanoCarp, and I have been the behind-the-scenes guy for awhile on the website, however I have just received permission to post as my own account and a bit more personally, as opposed to just using the group's account.

Ok, down to business.

LIVE broadcasting will be starting as soon as possible, but I wanted to outline the changes that will occur so all of you who actually check the website won't be caught off guard completely. Please note that these are NOT final and are subject to change as we progress to the final stages of this change over.

First off, we will be using a different DJ for each period, what this means is that each period will have a different show. Also we will not be picking the music from now on, the music is up to the DJ, the playlist must only be submitted to us for approval. Next, requests on this website will cease, since each DJ will have their own show, they will all be given a website connected to this page. This page will be mostly up to them to maintain, but will be monitored by a member of the main site. You will have to submit the requests to your lunch's DJ.

On a side note, we are considering new speakers to improve the sound quality of the shows. However we are currently at a roadblock of keeping the speakers safe from those in the lunch period who would rather destroy them. More on that to come.

Changes


Wondering why you have not heard us lately? Well, we are working on the final details of our format change. Now, we will be broadcasting live from our new studio strait through channel 19 (MVP channel) to the lunchroom (and also available to anyone who tunes that channel in), starting sometime early next semester. What does this mean for you? Now, your lunch period will have a set of DJs who will cater to your music choices. you will be able to make a request to your lunch DJ, as soon as our new DJ page is unraveled.

How can you be involved? Well, we are still looking for DJs for ALL lunch periods. As a DJ. you will choose the music that you play. If you would like to be a DJ, either go to room B-232 or our "on air DJs" page on this blog and pick up a Radio Audition Form and turn it in as soon as possible.

PS... Look out for one of our DJs on the morning show next semester to tell you about everything else that's going on...

Our Next Show

Another year, another year. That means change. Starting with our next show, we will be switching over to a live format.

Because of our new format change, we are looking for DJs for next semester’s shows. If you would like to apply, talk to either Sideburns or Dr. Newman about all the necessary steps. Be sure to complete ALL of the attached forms and include all of the specified items. You can return your form in B-232 to the antenna folder directly next to the door.

You can also get our forms online. Just go to "Our On Air DJs" page and click on the picture to download and print it.

If you need help making a demo tape, once again, talk to Sideburns or Dr. Newman and they will be glad to help you. All applicants without a demo tape will not be considered.
